Infrastructure Engineers, how would you welcome working in a multifaceted technical environment? Gaining experience across Linux, Windows and Azure technologies? We are currently partnering with a software house in Suffolk who are at the forefront of a growing industry where a newly appointed Infrastructure Engineer will help take their technical environment to the next level.

As a key part of a highly technical team that is exposed to the latest technologies in their sector, you will be providing support across the board from 2nd to 3rd line for a variety of end users together with system administration of their internal network. They have an extensive client base, respect throughout the sector and offer fantastic training and progression possibilities. Make no mistake there will be some fire fighting you will be getting your hands dirty with, a line up of projects ready to be kicked off with clients wanting minimal disruption from their award-winning service means this role isn't for the faint-hearted! If you are looking for a steady, run-of-the-mill 'just keep the light on' position, this isn't for you!

If this sounds like you, what you can expect is an employer committed to the highest level of training and career progression, an environment full of like-minded, ambitious and sociable team members and an experienced CEO at the helm steering them through an ambitious stage of growth. Ideally, your CV will demonstrate a wide range of technical skills across Windows Server, Networking (LAN, WAN, DNS, TCP/IP etc.) firewall/security. Linux System Administration would be great to see (any basic scripting/command line would be great) however they appreciate and welcome any gaps in one's repertoire and full training and certifications will be on offer. What would go down exceptionally well would be some exposure to Azure cloud-based environments. What is essential, however, is the combination of understanding hardware fundamentals and strong communication skills.

This would be a great opportunity for an individual who has experience across 2nd line support and is looking to make the next step in their career and will equally provide a great opportunity for an experienced System Administrator or Support Engineer who is looking to progress in a company recognised as a key player in the industry. A leading software house is actively seeking an Operations Engineer with a strong Linux background to join their team in Chelmsford. The company have enjoyed unrivalled success since their formation growing to around hundred heads with no plans to slow down as they enter a very exciting phase of growth. As a newly created position, you can expect a high degree of autonomy and the opportunity to own the entire infrastructure within the company.

This role has been created to give their clients more support to assist them in the configuration of QA deployment, upgrades to infrastructure and looking at ways to improve their processes so that there is consistency in deployment. You will be an evangelist for supporting Linux servers and AWS infrastructure within the organisation with the measures of your success focused on Quality and efficiency. As a character, you will enjoy working closely with technical teams as an authority on all things Linux/DevOps. The team is a personable crowd so the ability to communicate effectively and educate and work collaboratively with your peers is vital to the success of the position.

Technically we have a shopping list in mind but the right individual with some gaps in his / her knowledge will always be considered. Personality and the right attitude goes a long way with this company. Linux Sys admin and strong AWS skills (particularly CloudFormation) are the order of the day here with the likes of Docker. Scripting skills across Python, Bash or Terraform and understanding of Java (basic level), which will pay to your advantage. Fundamentally, however, a grounding in the first two areas (Linux/AWS) coupled with a hunger to learn and aptitude/attitude conducive to their culture (passionate technologists who are happy to share a drink together!) is most important.
